Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United States. In 2001, she established The Corcoran Group in New York City. She sold the brokerage to NRT for $66 million. Then, shortly after she left the company. Corcoran is among ABC's first Shark Tank investors. As of now she has appeared on each season of Shark Tank. In February of 2020, she had completed 53 deals. The largest of these was a purchase of $350,000 to Coverplay at 40%. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second child of ten in a Catholic Irish working class family. Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father was a skilled worker throughout Corcoran's childhood. Her family frequently depended on food delivery services for free from a local grocer. Corcoran states her father was a drunk who treated her mother with disrespectful and sarcastic remarks. Corcoran was a struggle in school, and was later told that she was dyslexic. Corcoran attended an Catholic elementary school in her area and started high school at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. After flunking several courses during her freshman year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School and graduated as a D student.
